Expression

Today was another \m/ Totally Awesome \m/ day. Went to visit The Ex'pression College today with Lissa Sherman who graciously showed us around and gave us a mini tour of the school, its courses and its facilities. Its located at Oakland, just across the bay bridge about 15-20 mins away from where we're staying.

Heres a picture or 2 of a students work!

So we went in an saw this whole wall of signatures of both alumni and industry professionals who have come here and worked before. I saw Jimmy Eat World, Hoobastank, Train and so many other animators who drew their work again on the wall! Amazing!!

Here's a wall of posters which students have been a part of (:

This is the property of PIXAR! Probably the actual drawing of Woody and Buzz!

This is their 12 camera facility where students use to shoot motion tracking.

Some cute animation characters displayed!

The smoking camel!

The toothbrushing monkey!

Stone tiger guardian!

I just came up with those names by the way. Hahaha!

So here are other films students have worked/participated in as well...

O.M.G

Spiderman~

More works of the students!

This looked really real. I was a little afraid when I took the picture thinking if his eyes would just open. *ZHANG!*

Fishbowl boy!

Robocop's enemy!

So it was a really eye opening experience for us and a feast for our eyes indeed.. But wait till you guys see their recording facilities...

They have a few of studios just like this one. Easily 4 or 5 of them.

This is one of the more special ones. The hendrix studio.

Its crazy right? Wait till you see the 1.2 million dollar one in the videos with 7 control booths and this one bellow is the highest level recording studio in the school. Only seniors get to use it.

Nose bleeding yet? Hahaha! Its really crazy equipment they have in there. The class sizes are like 6 - 1 so its very comfy and not to mention, hands-on where everyone definitely gets a chance to learn and do something every lesson!

Also, the school invites industry professionals to come in and teach very often, so the students get updated with whats going on in the industry as of that moment. Its really cool as not only do you learn more but you also get to meet the big people!

So after the tour, Lissa brought us down the street to a salad bar. Really love the feel of the place. Its like a cafe in a garage.

Went pass train tracks too! Harry said the train goes all the way to....

NEW YORRRKKK~ CONCRETE JUNGLE -Ok stop-

Their coffee! Looks so pretty!

This is our half eaten Cobb Salad. Haha sorry!

So after lunch as we were walking back, saw may of the apartments/condo's around and also talked about life studying here, culture, etc. We learnt so much! Felt as though we were studying there already. Haha!

We saw this on the ride back.. Haha I can't wait to visit!

We also stopped by...

To snap a photo. Hahaha! We aren't allowed inside!

This is the bay bridge. The upper deck of it. Traveling out of San Francisco goes to the lower deck below. Traveling into San Francisco you get to see this!

So after we arrived back at school, we helped move the video equipment we're using for tomorrow into Alex's and Harry's car. It was pretty fast surprisingly. Haha!

After which we headed back into the studio to continue doing up the 5.1. This time it was cable making!

We had to find a way to connect the speakers into the presonus unit as it only has 1/4" outputs. So we had to make 1/4" to XLR male connecters!

I'm loving these kind of these hardwiring stuff!

Its cool as 1 is Ground/Common, 2 is -/return, 3 is +/live.

After we're done soldering, we use this device called a multimeter to test the connection of the cable, to see if its connecting through at all.

Lionel hard at work!

All in all it was a good day today!

Really learnt a lot and enjoyed myself too!

Tomorrow is the live video production! Can't wait!

Spencer.
