Woke up crazy late today. 12 something. Hahaha had lunch and then went to rectify the problem we had last night where the music feed thats supposed to be sending the feed upstairs into the mackie for recording didn't do its job. So we tried to trace the cable and all but in the end its probably just wasn't actually sent. Hahah.

Could find no fault with it and it was working fine when we tested so I guess its alright. We'll just have to see tomorrow. Haha!

After that, Harry taught us about lighting. There are 3 different types of lights that are used today.

First is the Parabolic Aluminized Reflector (PAR) lights. These are just lights with almost 0 control. The cheapest in the market. They are mainly used for general lighting of the stage.

The next is the Ellipsoidal Reflector which allows good control of the depth of the light. It allows the light to be soft or sharp.

The big one is the PAR light and the smaller one is an old Ellipsoidal Reflector.

This is a newer Ellipsoidal Reflector.

Up next is the Fresnel Lamps. The way Harry explained its invention was really cool. It was how this guy called Augustin-Jean Fresnel wanted to build a lens for the lighthouse where it needed to be able to shoot far, and be lightweight so that it can be spun round and round.

This invention eventually became a good idea for stage lighting where soft lighting is really needed, especially in theatrical stage lighting.

After which we discussed about LEDs, LCD and plasma.

Things that we never really explore or learn about. We just know them by name and never really dive into how they are made or what they are made of. The plasma really caught my interest. The use of a spark to ignite gas that produce colour. WOW that really blew my mind.

After all that discussion and all, Lionel and I had an intense game of table tennis. Really starting to like playing it. PLEASE PLAY WITH US WHEN WE GO BACK TO SINGAPORE! :P
